OUR STORY

Syndicate Bank Pensioners and Retirees Association (SBPRA) was founded on 24th of June 2012 at Hyderabad with a mission to realise long pending demands of retirees of Syndicate Bank. There was a long felt need of building a strong association with an all India presence to take up the cause of pensioners and retirees appropriately and to fulfil their aspirations. Launching of SBPRA marked the beginning of a new era of strong movement of veterans. It’s an all India all cadre organisation. The membership is open to all retirees of Syndicate Bank from Sub-staff Retiree to General Manager Retiree. It is affiliated to All India Bank Pensioners and Retirees Confederation (AIBPARC) which itself was launched pursuant to a call given at conclave organised earlier in the same year under the aegis of All India Bank Officers Confederation. Within a short time SBPRA has emerged as a strong force with the present membership surpassing 10000 (Ten thousand) mark. As a leading constituent of AIBPARC, it has ably worked for consolidation of the retirees’ movement in the banking industry. SBPRA has been recognised by the management of Syndicate Bank as having the highest membership of retirees and invited its representatives for discussions on retirees’ grievances/issues across the table by convening structured meetings. Three such meetings have already been held till now. Various issues concerning the retirees of the bank have been discussed as a part of agenda and some have been resolved. In this journey starting from launching of the Association till today the support and encouragement received from Syndicate Bank Officers Association is immeasurable and indelible. SBPRA gratefully acknowledges the same.

The pending issues of retirees inter alia are Pension Updation; improvement in family pension; improvement in medical benefits; pension option to resignees; uniform DA neutralisation; forum for negotiation at industry level; representation in committees such as staff welfare committee, pension fund trust etc to safe guard interests of retirees. Most of the issues are to be settled at industry level. Everybody is aware that the bank retirees are those who have contributed immensely for the growth of the banks and the economy of the nation by rendering yeoman service during their decades of service. They deserve all support. Their demands/issues are genuine and ought to be settled early. But the response from managements, IBA or the Govt is apathetic. Thus veterans are forced into struggle. United fight by all the retiree organisations in the industry is the need of the hour. In this context all India retirees’ organisations including SBI pensioners’ coming together under the banner of CBPRO is a welcome development. The journey is long and arduous. SBPRA will work under the banner of AIBPARC/CBPRO to overcome the difficulties and march on to resolve the long pending contentious issues of retirees.

This website is created for the benefit of SBPRA members to provide them with up to date information on developments in the matter of struggle for safeguarding and improving retirees’ benefits. The process of improving the site will be continuous. Suggestions are welcome.
